Ammonia Energy is an undertaking of the NH3 Fuel Association and the Global Ammonia Energy Federation. The NH3 Fuel Association was founded in 2004. Its mission is to promote ammonia as an affordable, sustainable, carbon-free fuel for stationary power, transportation, and energy storage applications, thereby reducing dependence on fossil fuels and enabling the transition to a low-carbon economy. The Association has organized an annual conference every year since its founding.
Recognizing the global scope of interest and activity in ammonia energy, the NH3 Fuel Association chartered an exploratory group in September 2015. The group’s charge was to investigate the possibility of a higher-level body that could help ammonia energy proponents in different countries organize nationally or regionally focused ammonia energy advocacy bodies. The effort came to fruition with the launch of the Global Ammonia Energy Federation at the 2016 NH3 Fuel Conference. Ammonia Energy is the inaugural activity of the Federation.
