Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners joins HNH project in Chile

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has joined AustriaEnergy and Ökowind as official partner in the million-tonne-per-year HNH green ammonia project in Chile's Magallanes region. CIP first appeared on the ammonia scene in February 2021, announcing they would lead development of a world-scale wind-to-ammonia plant in Denmark.

4.4 million tonnes per year renewable ammonia in Chile

Total Eren will lead development of the H2 Magallanes project in southern Chile. Up to 10 GW of onshore wind capacity will power 8 GW of electrolysers, a desalination plant, an ammonia production plant and port facilities to export the product to local and global markets. At full capacity, 4.4 million tonnes of renewable ammonia will be produced every year. Although H2 Magallanes is still in the pre-feasability stage, it will be launched in 2025, with the aim to begin hydrogen electrolysis in 2027.

Trammo and Lotte Fine Chemical sign agreement for green ammonia supply

Trammo (one of the world's largest transporters of ammonia) will supply green ammonia to Lotte Fine Chemical (LFC is currently the largest ammonia buyer in Asia) after a new agreement was signed this week. The MoU represents the first green ammonia supply agreement in Korea, and is a critical step in LFC's development of a Korea-wide ammonia value chain.
